In order to ensure learning, we must assess students’ knowledge and performance. Moreover, critical reflection on course evaluation and research on pedagogical practices are vital to improving teaching across the disciplines. Here, I describe various ways in which I assess student learning. I also describe the feedback I have received from students via course evaluations by summarizing both qualitative and quantitative data. Finally, I describe my ongoing research on pedagogical practices.
